Hi! I’m Mara.
I’ve been teaching writing and editing professionally for over 16 years, specializing in nonfiction, including thought leadership and memoir. In 2021, I created my signature memoir writing program, Unearthing Beauty, which guides students to craft powerful personal narratives that transform pain into purpose.
In the last year, I quit my day job to focus full time on my work as an editor, coach, and writing teacher.
I believe that words can change the world and that, with the right help, anyone with the drive can produce a truly great book. My favorite thing is to help writers to unearth the beauty of their stories, clarify their ideas, and polish their prose—so they can make their writing dreams come true.
